An express guide of gluten-free restaurants in Paris | CeliCity

Hello everyone!

As you might have realized from the previous interview, I’m very fond of traveling and discovering new places.

I’m also aware that venturing to go exploring the world while on a coeliac diet might seem a bit scary at first, but worry not! As this gluten-free “trend” is getting more exposure on the media, it seems that, though slowly, more restaurants are offering to accommodate a gluten-free diet and more specialized products can be found at the supermarkets. .

We should also bear in mind that each place is different, and some are more gluten-free friendly than other. For example, France has become a cliché on not being very gluten-free friendly; however on my recent trip to its capital, Paris, I’ve discovered that there were many restaurants not only offering, but specialized in gluten-free food, and of course, I am more than happy to share my findings with you. My aim is to inspire and empower you to shake off the fear of not being able to travel again due to the gluten-free diet.

My Free Kitchen is a restaurant specialized in organic, gluten-free and lactose-free food. While I was talking to them, I found out that the owner herself is gluten and lactose intolerant. Based on what I saw on the menu, I would say that most of the food seemed to be on the vegetarian side. My favourite was the three chocolate muffin (or in French muffin aux 3 chocolats).

Fancying some crêpes? Head to the crêperie Bretonne Biosphére Cafè, where you’ll find not crêpes but galettes. What’s a galette you might ask? It’s a specialty from the French Britanny region where pancakes are made from buckwheat flour and thus receive the name of galettes. All food here is gluten-free and since it’s also a bakery, you can get the chance to try out the famous macaroons (some of them are also lactose-free in case you are lactose intolerant as well).

Lastly, but not least, what is a visit to France without tasting the well-known baguettes? Chambelland bakery is the place (or boulangerie) to go, but be aware that you will also find a wide range of amazing bread, cakes, pastries and everything in between – all naturally gluten-free!.

What do you think? Ready to take over the City of Lights? 😉

Happy travels
